The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, National Research Council has selected Sidney Green as a member of the Army Science & Technology, Standing Committee on Chemical Demilitarization.  This NRC Committee is part of the Board of Army Science and Technology and provides advice and consultation to the Army regarding the destruction of chemical weapons.

At the first Committee meeting (held Nov, 16-18 2016), Joe Novad, Technical Director, PEO ACWA, noted, "meeting with experts from the National Academies is a process that goes back many years. They have conducted numerous studies for us, and we rely on their technical expertise to help us implement our technologies and identify solutions for plant process challenges." Committee Members examined the Army Explosive Destruction System at the Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility on Aberdeen Proving Ground and evaluated an improved version of chemical dissociation at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant located in Pueblo, Colorado.
